Shiny and versatile: the silk scarf for women

For several millennia, the silk scarf for women has been regarded as a particularly elegant accessory for ladies. What once began in ancient China can now be found in various colors in our high-quality FRAAS range. Depending on how you wear it and the pattern, you can add a sophisticated, playful or charming touch to your outfit with a silk scarf.

What is the origin of silk scarves?

Silk is obtained from the cocoons of silkworm moths. The silk moth is a butterfly that feeds in caterpillar form on the leaves of the mulberry tree. With the help of special glands, it produces a thread of silk from these leaves and pupates in it. The animal silk fiber consists mainly of protein.

The beauty of the fibre was recognized early on: Silk textiles were popular in ancient China long before Christ. It is said that the idea of how to obtain silk fibers and transform them into accessories and clothing came from the Chinese Emperor Fu Xi. Silk slowly made its way by sea and land to India, Egypt and finally to the Roman Empire. The latter quickly became one of the largest traders of silk accessories such as silk scarves - silk production is still very much present in Italy today.

Wearing and combination options for silk scarves

When you buy silk scarves, there are different ways of tying and wearing them, each with a different look. There are casual tie versions that are suitable for jeans and a T-shirt, as well as particularly chic alternatives.

      • Wear the silk scarf as a triangle: If you fold square silk scarves into a triangle and place them over your chest, you have chosen the "cowboy" version. Knot the ends of the scarf at the back of the neck and combine with a checked shirt and casual jeans. A red silk scarf is a great contrast to the jeans look.
      • Wear a silk scarf with a knot: Choose the triangular version again for the silk scarf, but this time wear the knotted ends at the front. This style looks classic and understated. For example, combine a silk scarf in white with a monochrome suit or a colorful blouse.
      • Wear a silk scarf with a bow: If you fold the silk scarf lengthwise, you get a narrow ribbon that you can tie into a bow at the side. This goes perfectly with a light, floral summer dress, as the look is wonderfully playful and romantic.

Tip: You can also use your silk scarves for other purposes if they are not too big. Wear your scarf as a bracelet, for example: roll it up and knot it around your wrist. A silk scarf in black goes well with a rocking festival look, while a silk scarf in red or bright blue is a particularly eye-catching accessory. Wrapped around the handle of your handbag, silk scarves conjure up a whole new look for your accessory. And wrapped in your hair or knotted in a plait, silk scarves conjure up a romantic look.

Choice of pattern: Classic or eye-catching?

The FRAAS range is constantly being expanded with new silk scarves. However, some patterns are always included in the range due to their great popularity.

      • Stripes and dots: Stripes and dots are classic patterns on silk scarves for women that never go out of fashion. You can combine them perfectly with everyday or office wear.
      • Geometric and check: Geometric patterns and checked silk scarves are more exciting but still timeless. For example, buy a red checked silk scarf for a genuine cowboy look.
      • Paisley and floral: A charming paisley or floral pattern on the silk scarf harmoniously rounds off monochrome outfits. Paisley scores points in a business context, while floral silk scarves are preferred for leisure.

Buy silk scarves and enjoy them for a long time: The right care

At FRAAS, you make the best choice for your silk scarf, large or small. After all, most of our production takes place in Germany, under strict conditions and with constant quality control.
